Pirineus Pallars Sobirà
The main objective of the Jewish refugees who managed to avoid being captured once they arrived in the Lands of Lleida was to reach Lleida or Barcelona. To do this, they sought means of transport in the main settlements of the comarca (local district), generally with the help of “passers”. Others, however, tried to cover considerable distances on foot, closely following paths that were often subject to surveillance. On reaching El Pallars Sobirà, some expeditions followed routes that ran close to the River Noguera Pallaresa and avoided the road linking the northern and southern parts of the comarca. Both those who had entered the Cardós and Vallferera valleys and those who had travelled through the Isil valley arrived at Llavorsí and then passed through the proximities of Rialp before reaching Sort.
